Milan, la Moda, and Male Models...what more could you ask for? Here's an interview I did with designer Neil Barrett on June 21 for Milan's S/S 2011 Fashion Week. The look was casual and comfortable with basic styles that were worn in.

Last week on February 25,I got to see Frankie Morello's new Fall&Winter 2010/11 collection through my amazing internship. All I can say is black, tight, and short...and that I loved it all as I sat front row! Here's a video of the first two looks (don't mind my mediocre video skills).

Next Generation not so RTW?

Fashion week in Milan started on February 24, 2010 with Next Generation, a show featuring four emerging designers who are all under 30 years of age! Next Generation was initiated by The National Chamber of Italian Fashion four seasons ago to introduce the new kids on the block. The four designers chosen were Marco Corso, Francesco di Giorgi, Francesca Liberatore, and Susanna Cornet.

Here's a rundown of the runway:
Marco Corso - shoulders, blazers, and cuffed trousers.
Francesca Liberatore -sleek booties and revealing backs.
Susanna Cornet (my favorite!) - over-the-knee tights, nude shades, and flowy dresses/skirts.
Francesco di Giorgi - Alice in Wonderland, white fur, and pastel tights.

With noticeable threads falling onto the runway from Marco Corso's line and the inexperienced models, I felt like a judge on Project Runway. Let's see if these designers have what it takes to become the next big thing in Italy. Only time can tell.

When in Denim

Denim Denim Denim! This spring denim is blooming into various styles including the popular "worker" look. Lookout for overalls, distressed styles, and patches. When choosing a wash, go for a lighter shade or acid wash.

P.S. I Made This, shows you how to make pieces that are truly unique because you made it! Get crafty and make a flat chain necklace from the arm strap inside your clutch. If you take pliers, you can take the chain out, make a knot, and let the ends dangle on the bottom. P.S. you'll make this in seconds!

The new trend is short boots! A popular style in Milan is dark skinny jeans with lace up tan boots to add the perfect touch of tomboy. Try any of these styles because over-the-knee boots are so over. My personal favorite is the cowboy boots.

Fashion no-no

It was a frigid day in Milan today, and it looks like someone forgot to check the weather before leaving the house. If you decide to wear your mini skirt or dress this winter, keep your legs warm with some tights! Go opaque or spice up your outfit with a printed/floral pattern.

Jeggings

When spandex first came out a few years ago, it was a big deal to wear them as pants because they revealed your private area. Now jeans seem to get skinnier, tighter, and more form fitting after every season, resembling a 2nd skin. Jeggings, a combination of jeans and leggings, is the best of both worlds! You can wear them out at night and they'll still be comfortable with their stretchy spandex material.

JPG's inspiration is a tribute to the American woman and focuses on American pop culture from the past to present.
